Israel Appreciation Day is proud to boast an incredible lineup of speakers from various backgrounds and specialties. Today, IAD is honored to announce that former Deputy Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development Bonnie Glick will be speaking at the September 18th virtual event. Though she's an authority in many fields, Glick will address the audience on the technological and medical developments that Israel has contributed to the world.
Glick is an adjunct senior fellow at FDD, an American diplomat and businesswoman who served as the deputy administrator of USAID from January 2019 to November 2020.
Nominated for the post by President Donald Trump in April 2018, she was confirmed by the United States Senate by unanimous consent in January 2019. Glick’s prior experience includes 12 years as a U.S. foreign service officer in the Department of State with overseas tours in Ethiopia and Nicaragua and domestic tours in the State Department, the National Security Council, and the U.S. Mission to the United Nations. After leaving the State Department, she spent 12 years with IBM, including five years in IBM’s research division, where she co-authored three patents related to semiconductors and emerging technologies.
Following her service in the Trump administration, Glick started the country’s first “tech tank” at Purdue University, where she selected research, industry, and visiting fellows, and she raised funding to ensure the sustainability of the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue.
Glick has a BA in government/international relations from Cornell University, an MA in international affairs from Columbia University, and an MBA from the University of Maryland. She advises numerous companies and non-profits and serves as an independent board member. She has been published broadly and spoken on topics ranging from technology to development assistance. She speaks seven languages.
Israel Appreciation Day will bring together a diverse group of attendees, including community leaders, veterans, educators, and advocates, to celebrate Israel’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage. Israel Appreciation Day chairman Robert Chernin elaborates, "The US-Israel alliance is not just a testament to shared values and mutual interests; it's a cornerstone for a more secure and prosperous future, urging us to champion and deepen this unwavering friendship for generations to come."
