Sen. Cory Booker

US Senator - New Jersey

Confirmed

Senator Cory Booker has dedicated his life to ensuring the American dream is accessible to all, especially those who have been marginalized or voiceless. Born and raised in northern New Jersey, Cory excelled academically and athletically at Stanford University, where he earned both undergraduate and master’s degrees. His commitment to service deepened as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford and later at Yale Law School.

After graduating, Cory moved to Newark, where he founded a nonprofit to provide legal services to low-income families. His experience living in a Newark housing project further fueled his passion for social justice and equality.

Elected to the Newark City Council at 29, Cory challenged the political status quo and fought for economic security, healthcare access, and public safety. As mayor of Newark from 2006 to 2013, he led the city through a period of significant economic growth and social progress.

Since 2013, Cory has represented New Jersey in the U.S. Senate, where he has become a national leader in criminal justice reform, economic policy, and healthcare advocacy. His innovative, consensus-building approach continues to drive his efforts to create a more just and equitable society for all Americans.
