Paul Teller

Executive VP, AAF

Confirmed

Paul Teller is the Executive Vice President of Advancing American Freedom, the policy-and-action organization that Vice President Mike Pence created after departing the White House. Prior to this honor, Paul served all four years in the Trump-Pence White House: first as a Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs, where he operated as the White House liaison to U.S. House and Senate conservatives, and to all the groups and activists of the Conservative Movement who were helping advance the President’s legislative agenda; and subsequently as Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Strategic Initiatives for the Vice President, where he served as the Vice President’s liaison to the Conservative Movement at large.

Paul earned these White House privileges after more than 16 years as a Capitol Hill staffer, including: Deputy Chief of Staff and then Chief of Staff for Senator Ted Cruz of Texas; Legislative Director, Deputy Director, and then Executive Director for the Republican Study Committee—under seven chairmen, including Mike Pence; and Professional Staff at the Committee on House Administration.  Paul also advanced conservatism off the Hill in many capacities, including at The Washington Times--National Weekly Edition, the College Republican National Committee, and the American Enterprise Institute.  In light of all of this activity, the liberal Washington Post in July 2020 described Paul as a “veteran conservative organizer.”

A native Long Islander, Paul went to poli sci grad school at American University and did his poli sci undergrad work at Duke University—and has been a Duke alumni leader ever since graduation.  Paul and his wife, Maxine, who have been married since 1999, are the very proud parents of one daughter (born 2003) and one son (born 2006).
